NSW 4 x 4k Cross County Relay Championships 2008– Miranda

An absolute perfect day for racing produced impressive results from all AE team members. Lap splits were disciplined and produced a 15.9sec mean positive split (26sec. to 6sec. range). The team compositions were a difficult issue and race results mirrored the difficulty in selection.

The first leg resulted in Dave McAnally prevailing over a tiring Micheal Kozok (welcome back) in the final kilometre, with Gary McGregor chasing hard finishing close behind. Dave achieved an even split for his work (plus had to back up and run the last for the 0/35 team).

The flying Chamkaur “Team Manager” Dhaliwal set off next with the fast improving Oskar Booth and Paul “Spielberg” McGuire. Great strong improving runs from all and the Big Screen man Paul produced a 40sec faster effort than his last years run.

Adam Paleg hit his first negative split and was followed by Ian Wallace doing likewise on his debut run for the club. Alan Gardner completed the O/35 team with a time similar to last years.

Matt Hammond, fresh from zero training for a couple of weeks hit out solidly to finish off the A team’s performance. Peter Trewin, not to be outdone, recorded another negative split in a sprint finish for the B Team. Dave McAnally completed the O/35 team with his second run of the day.

The female team race had Rona Macniven starting and whilst matching her previous year’s first lap she powered the second and improved by 22sec. Sally lynch in her first cross country race put in a strong performance and finished well. Jackster kept the team in position and followed suit with an equally strong run. Deirdre Slattery completed the team effort with a great negative split.
